Southwest Virginia Partners in Education
In 2000, the Board of Directors of the Southwest Virginia Public Education Consortium completed a strategic planning and visioning process, resulting in a renewal of purpose and clarified activities for the organization. In reviewing its legislated mission, the Board cited the top two purposes should be "serve as a catalyst for change" and "support the development of new programs". In further discussing program and service priorities, three specific foci emerged:
- Improving the quality of teachers and school leadership personnel;
- Providing assistance to school divisions in meeting Standards of Accreditation and to teachers in helping students meet Standards of Learning; and
- Helping school divisions and teachers apply technology in support of instructional goals and student performance.
